Do you need a second Hydro Service?

Adding an Additional Electric Service for a Secondary Building

If you require electricity supply to a secondary building on your property, there might be a solution available through obtaining a secondary electrical service from BC Hydro.
In a recent project we handled in Langley city, a customer constructed a standalone garage in their backyard and needed a separate electrical supply. We coordinated with BC Hydro to install a completely independent electrical service for the new building. This approach eliminated any disruption to the existing electrical system in the customer's house.
The new garage now benefits from a 200 amp service, ensuring that there is no risk of overloading the panel when using power tools. One of the added benefits of implementing this solution is that energy usage is tracked and billed separately. This means that if you are running a business on a property, the energy costs will be accounted for and not affect you personally.
